This is such an opportune time to build a new home. Interest rates are very low. Vacant lot prices have not caught up with existing home prices. The real estate market has half the listing inventory it had a year ago and a fraction of what it had two years ago, driving the price of existing homes up and causing bidding wars.

As “On Your Lot” specialists in the custom home building market, I would like to note just three of these markets out of the many that pose an excellent opportunity. Recently researching Lutz, Land O Lakes and Wesley Chapel neighborhoods, I noted a fair amount of available lots in prime locations, at reasonable prices. Combining these lot prices with our home prices tells me that you can have a custom home built for the same price you might pay for an existing home – or even less – providing you with (in many cases) instant equity.
